എന്നാല്‍ പലയിടത്തും ബോര്‍ഡ്‌ വച്ചിടുണ്ട് “Less crime doesn’t means no crime”.

“chewing gum is illegal, but prostitution is legal  ”  ഇത് പോലെ പല നിയമങ്ങളും ഇവിടേ കാണാം.

This is the grub scripts directory.These scripts are building blocks from which the grub.cfg file is built. When the relevant GRUB command is executed, the scripts are read in a certain sequence and grub.cfg is created.

Sample grub.d contains the following files..

00_header is the script that loads GRUB settings from /etc/default/grub, including timeout, default boot entry, and others.

05_debian_theme defines the background, colors and themes.

10_linux loads the menu entries for the installed distribution.

20_memtest86+ loads the memtest utility.

30_os-prober is the script that will scan the hard disks for other operating systems and add them to the boot menu.

40_custom is a template that canbe used to create additional entries to be added to the boot menu.

The numbering defines the precedence of the scripts.

3. /etc/default/grub -

This file contains the GRUB menu settings that are read by the GRUB scripts and written into grub.cfg. It is the customization part of the GRUB, similar to the old menu.lst, except the actual boot entries.

There are many other files also in this directory. The grub file is a text file that is parsed by the 00_header script.

To add a new boot option, you will have to follow a basic syntax:

a) Create a new file that has a XX_ prefix in the name, where XX is a sequence of numbers.

b) The next step is to write the actual content. Here’s a sample:

#!/bin/sh -e

cat << EOF

menuentry “My custom Linux” {

set root=(hd0,5)

linux /boot/vmlinuz

Its april, the month in which all malayalees including me gets busy attending marriage functions of friends, family members etc. I went for a marriage today morning. Since this was held in a famous temple, I thought of going in traditional kerala dress(mundu).

In my opinion, mundu is the costume that suits our hot climate. But there is one problem with wearing mundu, we need to manage everything in our shirt pocket (phone, wallet etc).

All went fine, except the return journey from calicut bustand to my home. That bus had an unusual rush, but still I managed to get in. After bus passed few stops, I noticed one guy bringing his face towards me, I certainly felt strange and stepped back. He continued to do that, this time I tried to keep as far as I can from him. After that, he didnt come to bug me. I felt, “ah..All is fine now..”

Few minutes later I felt something wrong and when I checked

MY PHONE IS MISSING!!!OH MY GOD

I turned back to see whether that guy is there, No.. he is not there. I rushed to the door, huh.. there he is waiting to get down in the next stop(pottammal). I shouted at him, GIVE ME THE PHONE!! He took his phone and showed me.

I decided not to leave him like that, I caught him tight and pulled him back from foot board. By that time bus reached pottammal bus stop, and many people were trying to get in and suddenly one guy among them said … “Hey here is a phone lying on the foot board”. Ah, I tried to pick it from floor, and by that time that #$#$%$#%#$^ jumped out and ran away . !!!!! Feel so ashamed that I missed him..

NOTE:: Anyway happy that I got my sweet android back

I am back home for Diwali vacation, and today suddenly I had to login to my office PC from here because of an unexpected Issue. Even though I am able to fix the issue, I felt slowness in accessing the office PC. When I checked my internet speed, its normal. Then why this latency ?

I am using Bsnl and in my office asianet leased line is used. I am at calicut, nearly 500kms from my office. But when I checked the route of my packet, I am pretty amazed.

******************************

Means, the packet is exchanged from Mumbai. Packet is traveling (1200 * 2 kms simply to exchange between ISPs)

Yes, its true there is no Internet exchange point in my Place !!!! That is what I understand from all these. NIXI is responsible for national Internet exchange in India.

NIXI currently has seven operational nodes at the centers in Delhi (Noida), Mumbai (Vashi), Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.

My question is why cant others come up with Internet exchange points like NIXI all over India? Is it possible ?

A short Description of  NIXI

The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) is a non-profit Company established in 2003 to provide neutral Internet Exchange Point services in the country. It was established with the Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) to become the operational meeting point of Internet service providers (ISPs) in India. Its main purpose is to facilitate handing over of domestic Internet traffic between the peering ISP members, rather than using servers in the US or elsewhere. This enables more efficient use of international bandwidth and saves foreign exchange. It also improves the Quality of Services for the customers of member ISPs, by being able to avoid multiple international hops and thus lowering delays.

I could see the domain tptools.org, under which the worm was hosted is in your gator1237.hostgator.com. server. Seeing the whois details of this domain, it seems it was hosted by the hacker itself. Also, no update is being done to his nameservers after 19th. Can you analyze your network/system logs to shed some idea of the hacker?

****************************

Now I am waiting for their reply. Lets wait and see.

It is always good to see people who are satisfied with my service, rather than getting some bucks from them.

Yesterday, one guy came to me with a website which is having a huge downloads and connections.

When I logged in to the server and checked the load was 100-400 and websites/control panel everything was slow.

The server had good configuration and he was in a confusion to make things work better.

So i told him, I will do some optimization for better performance. But it didnt make any difference.

Next I changed the apache mpm from prefork to worker. It showed some positive signs, but still was not up to the mark.

Then I decided to run 2 webserves, one nginx to server static contents and apache in the background for serving dynamic contents.

I will explain the steps to do that.

cd /usr/src
wget http://sysoev.ru/nginx/nginx-0.7.63.tar.gz
wget http://stderr.net/apache/rpaf/download/mod_rpaf-0.6.tar.gz
wget ftp://ftp.csx.cam.ac.uk/pub/software/programming/pcre/pcre-7.9.tar.gz
tar xvzf mod_rpaf-0.6.tar.gz
cd mod_rpaf-0.6
/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs -i -c -n mod_rpaf-2.0.so mod_rpaf-2.0.c
cd /usr/src
tar xvzf pcre-7.9.tar.gz
cd pcre-7.9
./configure
make
make install
cd /usr/src
tar xvzf nginx-0.7.63.tar.gz
cd nginx-0.7.63
./configure --with-http_ssl_module --with-http_realip_module --with-http_dav_module --with-http_flv_module --with-http_gzip_static_module
make
make install

-Login to WHM and look for the following route:
Main >> Service Configuration >> Apache Setup > Include Editor > Pre Main Include

- Add the following configuration and save, LIST_OF_YOUR_IPS changing the IP you occupy in your site:

LoadModule rpaf_module modules/mod_rpaf-2.0.so
RPAFenable On
# Enable reverse proxy add forward
RPAFproxy_ips 127.0.0.1 LIST_OF_YOUR_IPS
# which ips are forwarding requests to us
RPAFsethostname On
# let rpaf update vhost settings
# allows to have the same hostnames as in the "real"
# configuration for the forwarding Apache
RPAFheader X-Real-IP
# Allows you to change which header mod_rpaf looks
# for when trying to find the ip the that is forwarding
# our requests

Change the apache port to 81 (tweak settings)
Open whm – tweak settings and find 0.0.0.0:80 and change it to 0.0.0.0.:81

- Run SSH console

/usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/bin/whostmgr2 --updatetweaksettings
/scripts/rebuildhttpdconf
httpd restart

wget the automated nginx virtual host creator and run it

http://prajizworld.com/nginx.sh

chmod 755 nginx.sh

./nginx.sh

Remove the 3 # signs of the following lines from

/usr/local/nginx/conf/vhost.conf

#location ~* \.(gif|jpg|jpeg|png|wmv|avi|mpg|mpeg|mp4|js|css)$ {

# root   /home/myweb/public_html;

#}

Check nginx configuration  using

/usr/local/nginx/sbin/nginx -t

If everything is fine, its time to start nginx.

/usr/local/nginx/sbin/nginx

Configure nginx startup script

http://prajizworld.com/nginx.txt

mv nginx.txt /etc/init.d/nginx

chmod +x nginx

chkconfig --add --level 3  nginx

After doing all these, the server load was very low and pages were processing at lightning fast,

but still we experienced a slowness.

When I analyzed the traffic, I understood now network is bottleneck.

I could see many concurrent connections from same session downloading huge files.

So I thought of adding the below lines to limit traffic from same session

### Directive describes the zone, in which the session states are stored i.e. store in slimits. ###
### 1m can handle 32000 sessions with 32 bytes/session, set to 5m x 32000 session ###
       limit_zone slimits $binary_remote_addr 5m;

### Control maximum number of simultaneous connections for one session i.e. ###
### restricts the amount of connections from a single ip address ###
        limit_conn slimits 2;

And then, everything is working fine and the client is happy

Update on Google Wave
8/04/2010 02:00:00 PM
We have always pursued innovative projects because we want to drive breakthroughs in computer science that dramatically improve our users’ lives. Last year at Google I/O, when we launched our developer preview of Google Wave, a web app for real time communication and collaboration, it set a high bar for what was possible in a web browser. We showed character-by-character live typing, and the ability to drag-and-drop files from the desktop, even “playback” the history of changes—all within a browser. Developers in the audience stood and cheered. Some even waved their laptops.

We were equally jazzed about Google Wave internally, even though we weren’t quite sure how users would respond to this radically different kind of communication. The use cases we’ve seen show the power of this technology: sharing images and other media in real time; improving spell-checking by understanding not just an individual word, but also the context of each word; and enabling third-party developers to build new tools like consumer gadgets for travel, or robots to check code.

But despite these wins, and numerous loyal fans, Wave has not seen the user adoption we would have liked. We don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product, but we will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects. The central parts of the code, as well as the protocols that have driven many of Wave’s innovations, like drag-and-drop and character-by-character live typing, are already available as open source, so customers and partners can continue the innovation we began. In addition, we will work on tools so that users can easily “liberate” their content from Wave.

Wave has taught us a lot, and we are proud of the team for the ways in which they have pushed the boundaries of computer science. We are excited about what they will develop next as we continue to create innovations with the potential to advance technology and the wider web.

I am really wondering why google is going to drop such a wonderful project. Ofcourse, as expected no one is using the wave.

Is it because lack of marketing ?

  No, I don’t think so. At first, when they released it everyone was amazed by its features. So what actually went wrong ?

  Personally speaking, major reasons are

   1. Its not so easy to use.

        Most of us gets confused with such a large options, even though they are very useful. Some one needs to read its documentation or need to watch video tutorial in order to be an expert.

   2. The entire browser gets slow down

             Yes, I had to restart my browser couple of times. Even while using google chrome.

   3. Google could have integrated all these to their existing webmail interface. Because no one wants to open another tab just to communicate through wave.

I have been thinking for a while, why bandwidth cost in india is very high when compared to US, which in turn is diminishing the reach of online world to INDIA.

Labor and resources are cheap here in India, but why ? Are we importing something for cost to shootup like this? The answer is, we are are simply wasting Bandwidth and paying more for it.

Why do we host a website in a server in US, while most of its customers are in INDIA?.

If we need to host here, we need more reliable datacenters here. So why there is not much datacenters here ? The answer would be bandwidth and connectivity. Since bandwidth cost is high here, we try to host servers in US, which will again increase the network traffic to US. Its a chain process and I am pretty sure we are not in the right path, which will end in a permanent solution.

ISPs here cannot reduce their cost because international bandwidth is a bit costly for them too, which restricts them to reduce bandwidth cost beyond a limit. But they are charging the same for local traffic and international traffic, where local we have got TERABYTES of bandwidth and international which is limited. It is like paying ISD rates for all calls.

My opinion as a solution for this problem is, our ISPs should start providing bandwidth based on traffic, whether it is local or international. They can give local bandwidth at very cheap prices, even cheaper than US and international can remain the same. Once this is accomplished, more datacenter startups will emerge here and there would be great difference in the international traffic.

Also there is much difference in response times,

To a Website Hosted in US

time=326 ms

To a Website Hosted in India

time=51.7 ms

So now I think If we get such a plan from Any ISPs here, I could even go for a startup in this field , What do you think ?

Felt bad when I saw this. I dont know why this happened, but I am sure we will make it next time

I was thinking what is this Cryogenic technology, that makes it so complex for us ?

A cryogenic rocket engine is a rocket engine that uses a cryogenic fuel and/or oxidizer, that is, its fuel and/or oxidizer are gasses liquified at cryogenic temperatures.

The use of liquid fuel rocket engines was first considered by the German, American and Soviet engineers independently, and all discovered that rocket engines need high mass flow rate for both liquid oxidizer and fuel, for generating the necessary thrust. Higher thrust levels were achieved when liquid oxygen (LOX) and liquid hydrocarbon were used as fuel. At room temperature and pressure, oxygen and low molecular weight hydrocarbons are in gaseous state. To get the required mass flow rate, the only option is to feed them to the engine in liquid form. Therefore, they are converted to liquid form by cooling them down, and are stored in the rocket’s fuel tanks at very low temperatures. Hence engines that use these fuels are called cryogenic rocket engines.

Various cryogenic fuel-oxidizer combinations have been tried, but the liquid oxygen (LOX) oxidizer and liquid hydrogen (LH2) fuel combination is one of the most widely used. Both components are easily and cheaply available, bio-friendly, non-corrosive and when burned have the highest entropy release by combustion, among all non-toxic pairs. Liquefaction temperature of oxygen is 89 kelvins and at this temperature LOX achieves a density of 1,140 kg/m3 (1.14 g/cm3). And, for hydrogen it is 20 kelvins, a few kelvins above absolute zero, and gains a density of 70 kg/m3 (70 mg/cm3). All cryogenic rocket engines work on expander cycle or gas-generator cycle or staged combustion cycle depending on thrust requirement, since the oxidizer and fuel are at sub-zero temperatures. LOX LH2 cryogenic rocket engines produce specific impulse up to 450 s (4.4 kN·s/kg).

Yesterday, one of my ever best buddy came to my home. Its not the first time he is coming here, but this time, its first that we are going to part, even for a while in the past 3 years.

This makes me think of our miserable and short life, full of happenings that comes as waves. Some keep us comfortable and others that might even take us down. I do believe that everything happens for a reason, so I guess this has also got something to do with my life, and probably his.

Yes, its true that many changes took place in the past few years, and it would change the same way the coming years also. But as everyone does, I too wish if I could hold those good moments without any change.
